I have never been a tourist in my own country, but I do know that Philippines have numerous sceneries to be proud of. The archipelago that is situated just above the equator, have the most wonderful weather throughout the year. Perfect for all the activities that you want to do- whether you want to play with the sea or go out walking!
Talking about Philippines…I am so blissful today as I have learnt that we are in TOP 77 of the final candidates for the New 7 Wonders of Nature… We have 4 entries who made it to the TOP 11, namely: Tubbataha Reef, Chocolate Hills, Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park and Mayon Volcano.
So I am calling all Filipinos out there to be proud and cast your vote here to make Philippines Number 1. We have so many things to be delighted with and it’s time to the best among the rest ![]()
ito ang kinakain ko ngaun:
i got interested with marshmallows history so i took time to do a little research about what im craving for the moment
Would you like to take a guess as to how old the marshmallow is? 50 years? 100 years? Maybe 200 years? Would you believe before Columbus discovered America? Would you believe before the birth of Christ? Well, would you believe 4000 years? That’s right 4000 years, 2000 years before the birth of Christ.
Marshmallows date back to ancient Egypt. Some historians claim marshmallows got their name when pharaohs discovered that by squeezing the mallow plant (Athaea officinalis) which grows wild in marshes, a sweet, sticky substance surfaced. Honey was flavored with the extract. The delicacy was so special, it was reserved for gods and royalty only.
Marshmallows were introduced in France in the mid-1800s, where owners of small candy stores made them by sweetening, whipping and molding gummy sap from the mallow root. Doctors extracted juice from the marsh mallow plant’s roots. It was then cooked with sugar and egg whites and then whipped. When this foamy meringue hardened it created a medicinal candy that was used to soothe children’s sore throats, suppress coughs, and help heal minor cuts, scrapes, and burns.
Consumers liked the marshmallow’s unique texture and taste so much that candy makers couldn’t keep up with the high demand. The candy makers needed a way to make marshmallows faster. The “starch mogul” system was developed in the late 1800s. This system allowed marshmallows to be made in 24 to 48 hours.
Instead of making marshmallows by hand, the “starch mogul” system used molds made of corn starch (like jelly beans are made today). Around the same time, gelatin (which can also be traced back to ancient Egypt) replaced mallow root. Today’s marshmallows don’t actually include any mallow; they are a combination of corn syrup, corn starch, sugar, and gelatin.
In 1948, a marshmallow manufacturer by the name of Alex Doumak, experimented with different methods of marshmallow making. He was trying to speed up the process. He discovered a revolutionary process called the “extrusion process”. The “extrusion Process” involves pumping the marshmallow mixture through long pipes and cutting it into the shape we are familiar with today.
In the early 1950’s the “jet-puffed” process was developed. This process infuses air into the marshmallow. This gives it a lighter, fluffier texture.
Today, extruded, jet-puffed marshmallows can be cooked, cooled, formed, bagged, and packed in just 60 minutes.
Marshmallows are available around the world but are only made by three companies. Marshmallows are especially popular with Americans who purchase more than 95 million pounds annually.
There you go…Enjoy your marshmallows ![]()

phnom penh based again. arrived at 7:20 last night with mom, andrea, aaron, nestle, nico and nina. tired from 6 hours excruciating bus ride plus the unconditional change of weather made the whole trip nauseous - the result: splitting headache!
ok, too much complains! let’s move on…it’s saddening that mommy deng, nica, inah and benok’s more than a month vacay is already over. they headed back to philippines early morning of the 25th, with their luggages and pasalubongs with them, papa’s house became empty all of a sudden when we arrive back from the airport. i’ve never bonded with them like this before and it’s always thrilling to know that my siblings are all grown ups now. they’re not the ‘just-a-kid’ look anymore. they’re more mature and more choosy in many things. preferences have changed and more complains are being heard when you say something rather than following
even so, i still love them and will definitely miss them BIG TIME!!!
phnom penh house will miss mommy deng and nica, for no one will assist us in our breakfast in the morning anymore
back to basics as we say! if you want to eat in the morning, go and cook for yourself, hehe! we will also miss mommy deng’s cooking and nica’s talkativeness…aaron will be missing nica a lot for he will not be annoyed by you from now on.
the memories that they’ve shared with us will be treasured for the rest of our lives. we look forward to seeing them again soon but for now they have to go to school and we have to go back to work. chat chat na lang muna ika nga!
A few days before arriving here in Vietnam, Inah has asked me to go to Damsen because Papa wasn’t able to bring them due to his busy schedule. So, I promised them that we’ll go today as they don’t have much time to roam around since they’re flying back to Manila tonight.
Damsen is one of the famous theme parks here in Ho Chi Minh City. With 25,000 dong you can enjoy the beauty of the park plus the numerous activities that you can do inside. They have roller coaster, sports activities, mini zoo, crocodile farm, exciting rides and a lot lot more. Its vast land area will consume time so it’s advisable that you go there in the morning.
Happy family at Damsen. Entrance. 3D Movie Theatre
Du Day. Slide. Elephant Ride
Since I am not that tech savvy, I’m always having difficulty sorting out my files and doing some work on my laptop. So the ending, I always bug the intellectual ones in the office to do the task for me
Yesterday, Melissa asked me to do a quotation for her but since I am way too busy I only finished it this morning. Worried that the quotation won’t look good because I saved it as a document file, I asked Jayson to change it to pdf. Within 5 minutes, he sent me the file. Curious on how he did it, I asked him if he used adobe or other software. The reply is simply ‘No” and that he transferred the document through internet. I’ve learnt that you need to pay for the software for you to be able to change doc files to pdf files and in that case - he doesn’t have it.
All you have to do is follow 3 simple steps and wallah! Instant pdf file for your document. Here’s the link if you want to try the site - www.pdfonline.com
