Once Upon A TYPE…

So it’s Friday again, last day of work! Also, I have filed my maternity leave this morning and arranged all the things needed just before taking my vacation. So, I’m pretty excited to spend my time at home, doing nothing, hehe! It’s just last night that nestle reminded me of the date that it’s going to be Friday the 13th today… so I thought, writing something about it is interesting. The fear of Friday the 13^th is a popular superstition. Examples of the taboos for both Friday and the number 13 are numerous.

Friday and Superstition

Friday’s ill-fated superstitious connotations are believed to result from the idea that it was the day of the week on which Eve tempted Adam and Christ was crucified.

Among the activities that are taboo on a Friday: setting sail on a ship; moving house; beginning any new work; writing a letter; knitting; starting a journey; and cutting your nails. In both England and America the custom to hang criminals on a Friday earned it the reputation of Hangman’s day.

One activity offers some promise on a Friday - sleeping. The thought is, if you repeat the dream you had during the night to a family member on Friday morning, the dream will come true.

Not everywhere does Friday have this dubious distinction. Friday is the Sabbath of the Jewish lunar calendar and the Sabbath of Islam. Scandinavian Pagans, Hindus, rural Scots, and Germans consider Friday a fertile day, favourable for a marriage or courting. Their more favorable view of Friday is a result of the history of Friday.

I am not a superstitious person, yenoe! and numbers don’t really matter to me. However, I have my fave number though - which is #9 that stands for my birthday. Each person is unique, they have their own beliefs and we cannot interfere with their stands. So, whether 13 is a really cursed number and Friday is really unlucky, it is up to you to deal with…I wonder if Chinese still believes that 8 is still lucky after all the tragedies happened to them.

don’t scratch your eyes, you’re not mistaken…you’re right, it’s niccolo cosme beside me, the headshotmeister who initiated ‘Project Headshot Clinic’. he was here last night to capture images of more than 50 people for his project and bring out the most beautiful smiles out of them. my friends and i were very excited on what to wear and drama we’ll do on the event. but last night, we turned out glamorous in all the pics that we had.

each participant will receive 15 shots but im one lucky preggy who received more than what we expected. the event finished around 1am and we got back to our apartment at around 2am. headshot photos will be posted in a month’s time so we really need to be patient and wait to see how lovely we turned out.

shet, mamaya na ang headshot sa pontoon, wla pa din akong isusuot (actually meron naman kaya lang ayaw ko na lang isuot kasi nagamit ko na sa ibang occassion and i dont wanna repeat it anymore, kakahiya naman kasi, mamaya sabihin ng ibang tao un na naman ang damit ko!) kaya niyaya ko sila mama at pong na pumunta sa russian market to see and buy a dress. wla akong maisip na motif or anything, kaya kung ano na lang ang maganda ok na sa kin basta comfortable un tummy ko

anyway, i ended up buying this black halter dress and a red dress for spare. then, off i went to my ’suki’ rattanak to buy some cute silver accessories. i bought 6 sets to use not only for tonight but for whenever i like it, woot woot! cute kasi. un simple lang ang binili ko, para mas appealing.

umuwi na din kami agad, kasi me lakad daw un driver namin. pagdating sa bahay, naglinis lang ako ng konti then nag asikaso na ako ng sarili, wla naman kasi akong make-up artist para gumawa nun sa kin and i think it’s better na din na ako ang gumawa nun sa sarili ko kasi mas alam ko kung ano ang gusto kong kalabasan ng face ko. what i did is a light make up and brushed my hair nicely. sa iksi kasi ng buhok ko wla akong magagawang ayos kundi lugay. i wonder kung kelan hahaba ang hair ko, hmmm, malamang 10 yrs from now, wla kasi akong gnawa kundi magpagupit eh, hahaha!

I normally ignore the requests that I receive from my facebook account because it normally makes my profile look messy. I don’t like too much applications on it pero ngaun madami na din sya. So, this morning, I checked my account and saw that Toby (former colleague) and Lam Giang (former student) sent an invi to me.
