Drop the last year in the silent limbo of the past. Let it go, for it was imperfect, and thank God that it can go – Brooks Atkinson
I didn’t make a good start of my 2009, I guess. The beginning of the year was a mess. I wasn’t able to configure the things that I have to prioritize and settle plus there were a lot of confusions on things I want to do.
But I do not have any regrets
I am the one who always have an open mind and positive outlook in life, though in times I feel tired and stressed. I am the one who think there’s a solution in every problem. And yes I believe that every suffering has an ending, so I continue with all my perspectives.
Now that 2009 is bidding farewell, I want to look back to the things that made me a better person
1. Pong – you have given me much much love I could have received and I am so thankful for that. I hope that our friendship and love will continue to grow as we grow old together.
2. Andrea, Aaron & Aiken – you have pushed my sanity to its limits and yet I’m still alive! You’re all my trophies in life and there is nothing that can change my love for all of you
3. My Family – we’ve been tested through thick and thin, and we proved that we can surpass the trials that comes on our way.
4. Old Bosses – you have taught me to be stronger and better in my craft. The lessons I have learned which brought tears some time will never be forgotten.
5. New Bosses – thank you for the brand new experiences that you are giving me. I am loving the opportunities and challenges I’m facing at school.
6. Friends – I don’t have many but I have loyal ones! To all of you, I know God has better plans for all of us on the year ahead.
As 2010 is fast approaching, let us give ourselves a chance to grab change and enhance our personalities by creating a positive living. Let us learn to accept defeat and learn to stand up from our mistakes. Begin to love ourselves before we can give love to others and last, make the most of what we can each day, for we do not know until when we are gonna stay in this world.
I don’t have any New Year’s resolution, do I need one?
Christmas could have been better if my family is complete in celebrating the birth of our dear Lord Jesus Christ. I am missing them all especially my nephew Ala. Since we are far and busy working, we fancied ourselves by sending love messages to one another and wished that the new year ahead will bring more blessings to each and everyone.
For the past 3 days, we’ve attended various parties and these made us busy cooking foods for friends. I felt honored to impart my knowledge in cooking and share it with others. With this, I am always keeping my fingers crossed that they liked them all and nobody suffered from food poisoning, hahaha!
We started our day by greeting one another at house and since Nestle’s got work today (their company don’t acknowledge Christmas as a holiday) the kids waited for him to arrive home for lunch to receive and open the gifts! I could see from their faces how excited they were to open their gifts but they have no choice but to wait…wait…and…wait!
Then daddy arrived. Yey! Wearing the best smiles they could have, off they went to the Christmas tree to find their names on the gifts
After a while, we took photos to seal the season and said thanks for the great year that passed.
At 6pm, we went to the Dionco’s for our “Exchange Gift ng mga Superstars” event where gifts rained like cats and dogs! It’s potluck so we brought our share of fried chicken, yang chow and stir fried veggies
I think I could feed a good number of people with what I prepared because it’s quite a lot for us. Nevertheless, everybody enjoyed it.
It’s the exchange gift that everybody is waiting for. As soon as we started, the participants round together to see what others got from their secret Santa. I received a very nice teamug from Robin which came with a pack of tea! It’ll be more convenient for me now to make my tea especially at school
Thanks Obin! I got many presents from friends and they’re all awesome! The thought of them remembering me made me happy and this gave me an impression that I am somehow important to them, geez cheesy!
I am truly grateful for all the blessings that my family received, thankful to all the friends that we have through thick and thin and special thanks to my kids and Pong for making this season a wonderful event. I had a blast!
P.S.
Pictures to follow..

Joy to the world
The Lord has come
Let earth receive her King
Let every heart prepare Him room
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and heaven and nature sing
Joy to the world
The Lord has come
Let earth receive her King
Let every heart prepare him room
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and heaven and nature sing
Joy to the earth
The Savior reigns
Let men their songs employ
While fields and floods
Rocks, hills, and plains
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy
Joy to the world
All the boys and girls
Joy to the people everywhere you see
Joy to you and me
Joy to the world
All the boys and girls
Joy to the people everywhere you see
Joy to you and me
He rules the world
With truth and grace
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness
And wonders of His love
And wonders of His love
And wonders and wonders of His love
Joy to the world
All the boys and girls
Joy to the people everywhere you see
Joy to you and me
Joy to the people everywhere you see
Joy to you and me
In just a few days, we will be celebrating Christmas. It’s been my 5th Christmas away from home and I am kinda forgetting how it feels like when you get to celebrate it with all of your family and friends. Nevertheless, I am still grateful for having my family here with me and though we are far away from our relatives and other love ones, we still wish them a happy Christmas and a prosperous year ahead of them.
I am not yet done with my Christmas shopping and gift wrapping, there will be 3 parties this week and I will be cooking foods for friends. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be on time to prepare everything before Christmas hits the clock.

November was very laid-back for me. I consider it as my hibernating month, for I wasn’t able to do much of what I should be doing…especially in terms of projects! Nevertheless, I cannot blame anybody except me for this.
Hmmm, so what happened the whole month? I guess I’ll leave the story to the photos
Aiken is back in the Penh…Daddy Pong and Tito Nico flew with her and they went to KL just before arriving here in Cambodia…She is bigger and smarter now!
Family trip at Phnom Penh Wildlife or better known as Phnom Thmao. The place is huge and you’ll definitely get tired walking around.
I got a chance to meet my old pals in Vietnam – Jeff and Stephen, here PP. I was so happy to see them both
I was craving for steak for many days, so I quenched it by eating at the Rising Sun! Yummy!
There were many things that happened, I was not able to capture them all but these photos say more
As we celebrate our last day of school for the month with boggle and party scrabble, my previous grade 7 students decided to have a small Halloween party together with my grade 6 class. We had our pizza and chicken galore, delivered by the Pizza Company at our classroom. Everybody was happy while devouring on the foods with the thump thump music loudly playing in the background. Some danced, some sang and some rapped! I have the talented students giggling their way on a Friday afternoon.
When the clock hit 2pm, all of us hurried to the bus and off we went to Northbridge Community which is 2 minutes away from the school to bid farewell to my student Koichi Mayumi. It’s his last day at school today because he needs to go back to Japan to continue his studies. For the short time spent, he managed to know more people around and we are happy to be one of them. His mom, Mrs. Christina is a Filipina like me
She is very sweet and humble despite of the riches they have. In the house, Koichi has his own baseball training machine which he use everyday to practice. Little that we know, Koichi is a Little League player back in his country so it is important for him to keep up his skills and even enhance it. All the students stand amazed while watching him hit the ball. We didn’t stay long in their villa and finally everybody bid farewell and said thanks for the sumptuous foods they made for us. To Koichi, I hope you will become the next Matsui of Japan! Go Go Go!
Everybody is celebrating Halloween and my kids are just staying home doing their little homework from their mommy. Later, after dinner they will receive a small treat so they won’t feel sad. To sum my post, here is the history of Halloween
Halloween (also spelled Hallowe’en) is an annual holiday celebrated on October 31. It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holy day of All Saints. It is largely a secularcelebration but some have expressed strong feelings about perceived religious overtones.
The day is often associated with the colors black and orange, and is strongly associated with symbols like the jack-o’-lantern. Halloween activities include trick-or-treat, wearing costumes and attending costume parties, ghost tours, bonfires, visiting haunted attractions, pranks, telling scary stories, and watching horror film.
Trick-or-treating is a customary celebration for children on Halloween. Children go in costume from house to house, asking for treats such as candy or sometimes money, with the question, “Trick or treat?” The word “trick” refers to a (mostly idle) threat to perform mischief on the homeowners or their property if no treat is given. In some parts of Ireland and Scotland children still go guising. In this custom the child performs some sort of show, i.e. sings a song or tells a ghost story, in order to earn their treats.
It’s time to review your knowledge in the periodic table of elements and our lesson for today is about Gold which has Au as it’s symbol
But let us cut the crap and not discuss the element, let’s analyse the gold in our life. It could represent as our family, work, friends and many more that is as important as gold. I am saying this because as we grow old we learn to value things and people that exists in our daily struggles in life. We all know that gold is one of the most difficult to find elements in the world. There’s plenty of them in the sea and in many parts of Africa but still, you need great courage and perseverance in searching them. Just like the people around you!
Some maybe 24k, others will be 21k and so forth. What exactly I want to say is that there’s no greater joy than to spend our precious time and love to those who makes us happy and complete. And because of this we value them in every little way just like how we adore gold accessories and other ornaments made from it.
To end my sentiments, I am leaving you a quote which I like most
- never pretend to a love which you do not actually feel, for love is not ours to command.
Treasure them while you still have time…that’s all
There will be a big event in the Penh and it’s going to last for 3 days, for me it’ll be 6 days, whoopeee! Though I don’t have any plans to go out of the city this Water Festival, I have decided to spend it with my family – quality time with them and we are going to have swimming sessions for three days!
If time will permit, we’ll go to Koh Kong or Sihanoukville for a swim but if we’re not lucky, we’ll end up at the Phnom Penh Sports Club which I think is not a problem as long as we can enjoy and relax.
Talking about swimming, I think I will be needing a good swimsuit for this activity. Something nice and comfortable since I gained weight after giving birth to Aiken. I need to hide the extra bulge of fats that formed in my body for they do not look good not unless there will be a miracle and all of them will be gone in a day (how I wish). So a good style will surely fit my interest
It’s the last day of school now and holiday will start tomorrow. I’ll be finishing some more tasks within the day and off I go to my relaxation
There’s gonna be the annual meteor shower tonight at predawn hours. This meteor shower happens when Halley passes around the sun on its elongated orbit – every 76 years – it lays down a fresh track of debris for Earth to plow through in subsequent years. Those tracks spread out and mingle over time, and we pass the tracks each October during our 365-day, nearly circular trek around the sun.
The best time to watch will be between 1 a.m. and dawn local time Wednesday morning, regardless of your location. That’s when the patch of Earth you are standing on is barreling headlong into space on Earth’s orbital track, and meteors get scooped up like bugs on a windshield.
Peak activity, when Earth wades into the densest part of the debris, is expected around 6 a.m. ET (3 a.m. PT).
Some meteors could show up late tonight, too. Late-night viewing typically offers fewer meteors, however, because your patch of Earth is positioned akin to the back window of the speeding car.
The Orionids have been strong in recent years. So if you have plans to watch, bring a blanket with you and your love one to enjoy the show
As a teacher and a mother, I always impart to my children and students how important books are to our life. They should be treated as your best friend especially if you’re still in school and studying. For me, they’re gems that needs to be taken care of, away from the harmful elements!
Books are one of my investments, I collect as many as I can to help me understand things that I do not know. It gives me more knowledge of the issues that are happening around and it educates me more as I read the pages thoroughly. One thing that concerns me when buying is the price of the books. I remember when I was still studying in the university, I always save from my allowance just to buy a small book from the bookshop. I even look for cheap textbooks so I won’t end up broke or else I won’t be able to survive my week at school…you know when you’re a student you need to find ways to get on your studies and books that are cheap with the same content like the expensive ones will help you alot! You just have to remember that when buying a book, you have to familiarize yourself with different ISBN numbers so you won’t get lost in finding them
