25 Things You Ought To Know About Joycey Woycey

I was tagged by Franco this afternoon and I am supposed to do the same like what he did in facebook. The rules are simple, once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it’s because I want to know more about you. Deal or no deal? DEAL!!! 1. JIVY stands for Joyce Ira Viray Yarza while 1983 contains all the details of my birthday – 1 for January 9 for the day and 83 for the year. Cool right? 2. I used to tuck in my white blouse when I was in 1st year high school. Im the only one different in the whole school (ang baduy no!) 3. Shopping is my way of relaxation especially when I...

Kung Hei Fat Choi

It’s the year of the earth ox now and it is the sign of prosperity through fortitude and hard work. That’s why everybody is looking forward to a blessed and prosperous year. There’s not much Chinese new year celebration here in Phnom Penh as they have their own Khmer new year in April, but since 70% of the businesses are owned by Chinese, most of the stalls will be closed tomorrow. However, it’s not holiday in the office so we still need to come and work…and if we’re lucky, maybe we’ll receive an ang pao from our bosses RECAP: We attended a small coke event near Naga Hotel this afternoon which is organised by Phibious. They launched their new TVC for 2009 which has focused on how you’ll share your coke for the new...

Phnom Penh Demolition

Loud pounding noises woke me up this morning. Startled where the noise is coming from I looked out of my window and saw hundreds of men wearing green shirt, hammering the small houses in front of the building where my whole family live. Immediately I called Nestle to witness the commotion and cover the event. It’s my first time to encounter scenes like this and it sent goosebumps all over me. There were lots of police men guarding the site and hundreds of spectators from their homes watched how their fellow Cambodians ruined other people’s houses in a small span of time. One by one the houses are torn down, I have seen smoke from afar but dunno if it’s teargas or fire extinguisher. I have seen residents standing with their houses shouting...

While there’s life there is hope

Hope, like the gleaming taper’s light, Adorns and cheers our way; And still, as darker grows the night, Emits a brighter ray – Oliver Goldsmith (1730 – 1774) I’m having mix of emotions now that my big boss is leaving the company. Without her, there will no proper directions for us to follow and no proper decisions will be made. Most of my team mates has gone somewhere and sooner or later I will be the only one in my team. How ridiculous it is, to work alone in a very unorganised company. Now, I can feel my heart is beating fast…I am not prepared for this and yes I don’t have clear options at the moment. I need guidance this time, someone to talk to and someone who could understand me. It’s only job that I might lose but I...

my spicy and sour day!

you’re reading it right, it’s not sweet and sour as supposed but spicy and sour i was out with my colleague sorya earlier when we passed a stall of a calamansi tree vendor. chinese new year is coming very soon and during this time thousands of calamansi trees are being sold for decorations. in chinese tradition they normally use it as a lucky tree because the tree is full of fruit and you know that in their culture, anything that is round is considered lucky and symbolises money but the twist here is that they don’t get to eat the fruit. what they’ll do is to let it rippened and then throw the tree away after the celebration. what a waste, ey! so being practical, i decided to buy a tree for welcoming the year of the ox, hoping that...
