Chinese New Year Dinner Special

I got an invitation from Udom yesterday night that the Sales and Marketing team is having Chinese dinner tonight at NAGAWORLD. Knowing this kind of occasion is not celebrated often and now that our team is cut down in two, I immediately confirmed that I am attending.

Yee Sanglucky foods

7:30pm is the call time at the parking lot of our office which is situated some 5-10mins walk from NAGAWORLD. Udom, Sorya and Samneang were already there when I arrived. They told me that Eileen went early as she is meeting some people at NAGA as well. I’ve been in NAGA for several times already but this is my first at the Chopsticks. They’ve gotΒ  good set menu for Chinese New Year that will last until Feb. 9, 2009. When we got in the resto, they quickly prepared the first menu which is called Yee Sang. It’s a mix of papaya, crunchy noodles, fresh salmon, ginger and some more ingredients that I don’t know. Before we ate the food, the waiter tending us made a few comments on how to eat the food and why we should eat it. So, he explained the name first – Yee Sang is the Chinese word for wealth (i think) and if we eat it, goodluck and fortune will come on our way. To eat Yee Sang you need to toss the ingredients as high as you can. It is believed that the higher you toss it the more luck will come to your business. I think after more than 10times of tossing only half of the food was eaten because half has gone spoilt on the table, hahaha!

Sales Team

We had an 8 course menu which is lucky in Chinese and all of them have meanings. Most are for goodluck and wealth. The interesting part is that you’ll be able to learn more of their culture while savouring the taste of the foods in front you. Not only food is good but the company of friends is also worth the stay.

If you have spare money, the set menu which is good for ten people should be on your list. $29/person is not bad with the best service you can get in town. Not to mention the cool waiter who entertained us while eating! Plus the ambiance is very relaxing, so if I am to rate it I will give them 7 :-)

Valentine’s coming soon but Nestle and I don’t have any plans yet. We might consider eating out but dunno where to go and what to do next. Worst scenario is that we’ll spend Valentine’s at home with the kids. Anyway, it’s okay, quality time not only for him but with the whole family is a lot better than sharing it just between the two of us :P

This page appears to recieve a great deal of visitors. How do you get traffic to it? It offers a nice individual twist on things. I guess having something authentic or substantial to say is the most important factor.
