9th Ray on Philippine Flag’s Sun

Just a quick info:

The Philippine flag’s current eight-ray sun represents the eight provinces that first rose in rebellion against Spanish colonial rule in 1896—Manila, Cavite, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Laguna and Batangas.

Now, Sec. Dick Gordon who is the author of the Ninth Ray Bill believes that this major step will reunite the country once again.

I just thought of what advantage this amendment will bring to the country. For the past many decades, we have been in war with the Muslims in the south. The government said they’re trying their best to control and eventually overcome the troops but till now they’re on the loose. If this is going to be a major change, I just hope it will be soon. I am kinda fed up watching the news about the MILF’s who kill normal citizens and kidnaps foreign nationalities for money. It doesn’t bring any good for us. Isn’t it more interesting if they will give us good news about this kind of matter. That they have literally stopped the MILF’s operation and then we can say that we are one united country. Also, rather than focusing on this ’9th Ray’, why don’t they prioritise other more important issues like corruption. I assume this makes more sense than the one stated above, right?

I dunno, I am not a political person, and I hate politics – ye know it’s DIRTY! but as a citizen who aims to have a good life, we still depend on the administration and hope they will bring into actions whatever they have promised during their campaigns in the election.

Nestle on IR

Nestle on IR

Taken last September 18, 2009 at Udong Temple.

I took the photo while he did the post processing. I noticed that IR or infrared photography is quite tedious especially when you are not experienced in post processing. Watching him makes me sleepy as he spend hours in retouching just to get the right colours for the photo. I even heard him complain about Nikon D90′s stubbornness in terms of IR. Compared with D40, D50 and D70 – D90 is not as flexible and permissive as them. The blocking mechanism of D90 is very strong that even you use filters, it’s still unable to capture the perfect ‘red‘ in IR photography and due to this reason, post processing will be your last resort to make the photo appealing.

I am amazed with IR photography these days. The photos are extremely beautiful and the effect gives the scene a different outlook which makes it more special. Plus the fact that the greens in the photos could turn out white as snow giving a dramatic change compare to an ordinary coloured shot.

I am planning to visit Angkor Wat in Siem Reap this coming Water Festival and I’ve been nagging Nestle to lend me his IR so I can take photos of the temples. He just gave me a jaw dropping expression after hearing me. I guess he is jealous because I will be the first one to do this and might be better than what he can do.

I have listed a few of my favourite IR shots. Just click on the link, to see the photographer’s works :)
