Goodbye Gordy

When I first came to Vietnam, my father insisted that we should have a pet, so we can have somebody or something to play with when we get home after work. I was a bit hesitant during those times because there’s only me and Papa at home and there will be no one to feed the dog if we’re both out to work. Nevertheless, we bought a puppy. We named him Gordy and he ended up as our mighty house guard.

Gordy started to be ill last week when one of Papa’s Chinese roosters died. It didn’t take long when Gordy stopped to eat and drink anything. Inah mentioned this when I chatted with her last time and from then on I have kept my fingers crossed that Gordy will survive this. He is one mighty dog and one of my favourites ever, so he needs to stay alive!

Last Tuesday, he still managed to eat even a little and drink some water. But soon after, he will vomit them all. Just right before 12nn, Gordy said goodbye. My sweet Gordy waited for everybody to be around before letting go. My siblings all cried as they watched him depart being far from them, I could feel how sad they are at that moment.

My sweet Gordy, may you rest in peace. You will not feel any pain this time and you’ll be with your pals Dags and Bull now. Please say hi to them from me. I will miss you Gordy, I will not be able to see you anymore when I get back to Philippines but your memories will be all over the place.

RP getting alert on a new super typhoon coming this week

Philippines is now on high alert as super Typhoon Parma codename Pepeng in Philippines is expected to unleash more rains just after 1 week when Typhoon Ketsana left the National Capital Region in deep floods.

Though Parma will not rain as much as Ketsana did, it can still worsen the scenario especially now that the waters have not subsided yet. The government informed the nation that super Typhoon Parma is expected to blow great winds with 175-200 kilometres per hour (110-125 miles per hour) with a high potential of causing heavy damage.

While many hasn’t recovered yet from last weekend’s ravaging calamity, let us all continue to pray for everybody’s safety. Take extra precaution now that the government has given the warnings. For those living near the rivers, please evacuate to the nearest centres near you. Help is coming from many good samaritans, so please do not lose hope. Everybody is doing their best to help.
