A Very Merry Christmas!
December 26th, 2010 Posted 8:54 am
Pinoys in Cambodia never failed to celebrate a very Merry Christmas even though we are living and working in a Buddhist country. For us, Christmas is within our hearts and no matter where we are, we’ll always remember to celebrate it a traditional way.
Six different families and other friends were all packed in one house to celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.
Loads of foods like seafood palabok, dinuguan, cheese puto, banana bread, morcon, fried chicken, fried rice, and fruit macaroni salad with endless booze were shared by all. There were more than hundreds of gifts under the Christmas tree and never ending smiles from everyone. Truly a very memorable Christmas for all of us.
It’s been my sixth Christmas away from home. Though I am with my family here in Cambodia, I still long to celebrate Pasko (as we say in Filipino) with my parents and all of my siblings. The feeling is different when you’re complete and surrounded by your love ones, and I hope one day, we’ll get a chance to be together again on a very special day of the year.

Christmas with 7B
December 23rd, 2010 Posted 9:36 pm
Every student in Class 7B came early in preparation of our class Christmas party and as expected, it turned out really awesome!
First, we’ve got really nice foods on our table; spaghetti, cheese puto, banana breads, spring rolls, chicken curry, hotdog sammich, lots of breads, lots of candies, and lots of chips. Thanks to the students andΒ parents who contributed and made this party possible.
Games will never be forgotten in the party, we played musical chairs, stop-dance, volleyball, and jumping rope, and never ending JX for the boys, hahaha! Online games may take the kids’ attention for a while but physical games are always the best and exciting!
Last, it’s gift giving time. Everybody’s got a secret Santa and all of us waited patiently to be called to receive our gifts.
After the party, I shared some words with my students saying “Christmas should be remembered in our hearts every day. The meaning of Christmas is to give love to other people and by doing this we’re making Him happy.”
Merry Christmas everybody!

Bugs Bunny Saved My Day
December 20th, 2010 Posted 3:46 pm
In times of crisis call Bugs Bunny! Hooray! hahaha!
Mommy Deng gave me this gorgeous pillow last year when I went back to PI for a short vacation, and this year I am using Bugs as my comforter at school. I am really feeling ill these past few days once the day reaches 1pm onwards. I’m always slightly feverish with throbbing headache every time I finish my classes and today I wasn’t able to hold on for long
Thank goodness Bugs is there to save me! The 1 hr nap I had helped me a lot to regain my composure and finish my work. I was too irritated with how I feel and it’s ruining my enthusiasm to do anything.
Hopefully this “bedweather” will fade off soon so everything could go back to normal.

How I wish we could skip buying anything on a Sunday but our time and schedule unfortunately forbade us to do so. Christmas shopping is one of the most tedious things to do when you do not have much time to go around the city and look for stuff you wanna buy. Good thing we did this a bit slowly for the year.
Dad bought most of the children’s gifts way back when he’s in Kuala Lumpur, I did my own shopping too while he’s gone, hoarding things I can use in my kitchen
So now, I am all stuffed on my desk wrapping the rest of what I haven’t wrapped, for Christmas is just a few days away, woohoo! It’s ain’t fun to wrap many gifts but at the end of the job, you’ll be able to appreciate your artwork, be it simple or grand
Oh my! Oh my! I’d better hurry now for I still have loads of things to do. I hope you guys are done with your shopping and wrapping too…Catch you all later alligator

Mike’s Burger
December 18th, 2010 Posted 7:52 pm
Finally, there’s a “REAL” burger we can eat in Phnom Penh!!!
Mike’s Burger House has been a byword since they’ve open a few months ago at Sokimex Gas Station. Since then, we always look forward to go and taste their products. So right after the Family Day at school, we headed to the burger house and ordered sets of what we desire. I had a double double cheese burger complete with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, the kids and Manang had the regular cheese burger, while Dad had an order of “Crazy Burger.” It’s a real crazy one for you’ll need to figure out how to eat it! It’s tall with double servings of beef patty, seasoned fries, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese, and egg. The owner, Mike, usually calls it breakfast + lunch in one, hahaha!
Dad tried his best to finish the burger but in the end, his tummy surrendered! He only managed to eat half, lols!
I am giving this experience a rate of 10 for satisfaction and good value of money. I suggest you to try this too, if you’re around Phnom Penh area, I’m sure, you’ll love the burger and will definitely come back

Family Day 2010
December 18th, 2010 Posted 4:27 pm
Once again it’s another successful Family Day celebration in the grounds of Cambodia International Academy. This year, the Student Council took lead in organizing the event. They have decided to conduct a charity event through raising money from the food coupons they are going . Kimyang and the rest of the organization did a very good job in developing ideas and putting them in action. Congratulations on that guys!
Today, all the kindergarten students showcased their talents in singing and dancing to entertain the visitors and parents. It’s a lovely feeling to see them on the stage with their pretty clothes and uber talented teachers performing with all their energies.
Andrea, Aaron, and Aiken also participated in the event. From face-painting, sticker tattooing, nail art, and other games, they’ re all present. They didn’t let this fun time pass them and I’ll say that they had a wonderful time.
Teachers took this chance to be kids again, with Teacher Mercy and Teacher Diana in tow, we hit the sack race and jumped all the way out till we reach the finish line!
It’s a successful day for the school, I’m looking forward that next family day, Aiken will be joining us
