Foot and Nail Pampering Day

November 12th, 2011 Posted 12:37 am

Ever since I was a kid, my parents thought me the importance of having clean and trimmed nails at all times. My dad will always remind us that our nails reflect the kind of person we are, but I didn’t really believe this. Though I know that having nice manicured nails make me more sexy :P

Growing up with my mom while my dear father is out of the country to work, home manicure became a mother-daughter bonding, where she will always make our hand and feet pretty. I love it especially when she applies nail polish to my nails, which is like a cherry on top of an ice cream.

Now that I’m a mother, I’m doing the same thing to my kids, but the twist is we do it in a salon. Blame work for not having time to clean them myself, boohoo. So this Saturday, I’m planning to give them a very nice and pampering foot and nail spa, yippee!

Earlier this evening, I bought this cute and cheap orange manicure set at Pencil Supermarket which I believe will excite my kids when we start our little bonding.

As I am writing this post, I suddenly realized something and I just want to say that in life, we need not to make things so complicated to be happy. Sometimes we just have to be simple and with this we become more appreciative in everything we have. Oh, let this pampering begin soon and let me tickle some feet tomorrow :-)

Porcorn Nights

Since decent movie cinemas started to operate in Phnom Penh, Wednesday nights has become a popcorn time for my family. Yes, I call it popcorn night because that’s what we nibble while watching the latest movie in the city :)

Juggling work, family, and social life is sometimes strenuous and I will admit time is never enough to do everything at once. So, simple as we are in the family, movie-night-Wednesday is always worth looking forward to. You can tell exactly from my children’s face that it’s their most favorite day of the week, so spoil it not.

By the way, Real Steel by Hugh Jackman is epic! The story is fantastic and my kids loved it, we all did actually. The boxing robot is like a reality to every kids’ fantasy, especially for those who are addicted to arcade games. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t waste your time, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it ;)

Apple’s co-founder Steve Jobs died at 56, announced Wednesday. Jobs who had suffered a rare pancreatic cancer finally lost in the battle. Many hearts will surely be sad after hearing his death for I am sure in some way or another, Steve Jobs have touched their lives through his innovations like iPod and iPhone. Let us admit it, the world became better because of him.

Apple not only lost a mentor but a good friend to those who have had the chance to work and know him. For us, we have lost a great innovator. So long Steve.

Two weeks ago, Facebook launched their newest look through timeline. However, this is still unavailable to many until first week of October, I think. For those lucky ones who used Facebook’s developer app, they managed to enjoy it’s prime beauty – just like me :)

The new timeline design gives you many ways to showcase your creativity and define who you are, a reason why I have asked my dear husband to do a quick photo shoot about paintball. And walla, I’ve got a fascinating cover for my timeline ;)

Many Facebook users around the world have shown their cool covers, so feel free to browse their design via this link.Β  If you wish to enjoy this feature in advance, follow the simple directions here and be like us :)

What do you do when it’s bed weather?

I told myself that I’d be doing loads of things this holiday since we’re not going anywhere. But dang! It’s the 3rd day of our long holiday now, and I still haven’t done much aside from sleeping, cuddling, watching movies, and eating. All of these I blame to the bed weather we’re experiencing. The kidsΒ  are the same too. Round the clock they’re watching the movies till they fall asleep. Couch potatoes as you’d say :P

So what are the best things you can do when bed weather strikes? Here are some things that came in my mind:

> Line up your fave movies/DVDs and get ready for a movie-marathon with your love ones.

> Make easy to cook foods like popcorn, pasta, sandwiches, or dumplings. These will save you time in preparing them, but won’t jeopardize the nutrients your body need.

> Sleep as long as you want. The weather is good and nothing beats a 10-hour sleep with your pillows beside you and full blast AC on.

> Read your book when boredom kicks in.

> Play with your kids at home and be a kid at heart once again.

> Listen to soothing music to uplift your lazy feeling. I know and I am sure that playing songs around the house can make a difference in your mood.

Ooohh, I’m sleepy once again, I think I’d better hit my bed while this weather lasts and when I wake up, I’ll bake a cake for my hubby and kids ;)

When the cowboys and aliens meet…

it’s gonna be a whole lot of action babe and you’ll sure love it!

Action packed “Cowboys and Aliens” starred by Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, and Olivia Wilde rocked Legend Cinema Cambodia on it’s premier last 17th August at City Mall. Hundreds of LC’s patrons hailed Jon Favreau in doing a fantastic job inΒ  directing the movie, and as a matter of fact, I screamed in some parts where the aliens suddenly appear, lolz! It’s a notion that the movie is really great and effective in conveying the message to it’s viewers ;)

Imagine you’re in a desert inhabited by people with guns and riding horses when suddenly aliens will appear to abduct everyone they want around you, I bet your heart will pound and you’ll be dead in a heartbeat before you could scream for help. Oh well, that’s exactly how you’ll feel when you watch the movie, so you’d better include this in your watchlist for you’ll never regret it.

So much of a spoiler, don’t forget to grab a large Coca Cola when you watch in Legend Cinema and get a chance to win cool prizes. The rule is simple, buy a large coke and get two scratch cards, where you can get free Coca Cola and other freebies, or get a brand new cellphone in their grand draw. Last night, I got two free colas, hopefully next time I’ll win something different :)

Plastic Free Lucban

Kung kaya ng Lucban, Quezon na i-eliminate ang pag gamit ng plastic to make their town eco-friendly bat inde magawa sa buong Pilipinas!?

It has been my long time dream to go to the market and buy stuff, and put them in a brown bag, parang yung nakikita ko ba sa mga movies sa States. Parang classic kasi ang dating pag ganun. Inde ko akalain na sa Lucban ko lang pala yun mararanasan, no need na para pumunta ng Amerika, hihi!

On a more serious note, I think the government’s initiative on this campaign is really good. Not only they’re teaching the local people to go green but they’re also teaching them to value money and resources. Papers can be recycled anytime, unlike plastics that takes millions of years before it dissolve. So if they can do it, why can’t we right? Go Lucban! I hope other parts of the country sees your beauty and make you their inspiration to improve their ways of life.

Family Movies Night at Legend Cinema

August 14th, 2011 Posted 5:25 pm

Since we got back here in Phnom Penh last Saturday afternoon, my daughter Andrea felt homesick and longs badly to be with our family in Cavite City. She was so attached with her aunts and grannies that’s why she’s feeling lonely back here in the Penh.

I know for a fact that being far from our family is a struggle, but this should never stop our world in revolving. Thus, I can’t let my daughter suffer from severe homesickness. I thought of letting her play with my landlord’s children to divert her attention and somehow relax her busy mind.

Also, knowing I’ll be having premier tickets at Legend Cinema’s The Rise of the Planet of the Apes, I decided to bring Andrea and Aaron with me. But since the movie’s rated pG-13, the watched Captain America in 3D and they loved it!

My kids were so well behaved that I didn’t need to worry about them while I am in the other hall watching the apes. My only appeal is that there were so many kids watching with us when the cinema manager told us that it’s rated 13! If I only knew, I would have let Andrea and Aaron watch with me and Nestle.

Anyway, I’ll disregard my disappointment about that PG13 thingy since I’ve seen my children’s faces lit after they’ve watched the movie. I felt great that they’ve enjoyed it. Next movie for them, Harry Potter 7 part 2 ;)
