Apple’s co-founder Steve Jobs died at 56, announced Wednesday. Jobs who had suffered a rare pancreatic cancer finally lost in the battle. Many hearts will surely be sad after hearing his death for I am sure in some way or another, Steve Jobs have touched their lives through his innovations like iPod and iPhone. Let us admit it, the world became better because of him.

Apple not only lost a mentor but a good friend to those who have had the chance to work and know him. For us, we have lost a great innovator. So long Steve.

Action packed “Cowboys and Aliens” starred by Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, and Olivia Wilde rocked Legend Cinema Cambodia on it’s premier last 17th August at City Mall. Hundreds of LC’s patrons hailed Jon Favreau in doing a fantastic job in  directing the movie, and as a matter of fact, I screamed in some parts where the aliens suddenly appear, lolz! It’s a notion that the movie is really great and effective in conveying the message to it’s viewers

Imagine you’re in a desert inhabited by people with guns and riding horses when suddenly aliens will appear to abduct everyone they want around you, I bet your heart will pound and you’ll be dead in a heartbeat before you could scream for help. Oh well, that’s exactly how you’ll feel when you watch the movie, so you’d better include this in your watchlist for you’ll never regret it.

So much of a spoiler, don’t forget to grab a large Coca Cola when you watch in Legend Cinema and get a chance to win cool prizes. The rule is simple, buy a large coke and get two scratch cards, where you can get free Coca Cola and other freebies, or get a brand new cellphone in their grand draw. I know for a fact that being far from our family is a struggle, but this should never stop our world in revolving. Thus, I can’t let my daughter suffer from severe homesickness. I thought of letting her play with my landlord’s children to divert her attention and somehow relax her busy mind.

Also, knowing I’ll be having premier tickets at Legend Cinema’s The Rise of the Planet of the Apes, I decided to bring Andrea and Aaron with me. But since the movie’s rated pG-13, the watched Captain America in 3D and they loved it!

My kids were so well behaved that I didn’t need to worry about them while I am in the other hall watching the apes. My only appeal is that there were so many kids watching with us when the cinema manager told us that it’s rated 13! If I only knew, I would have let Andrea and Aaron watch with me and Nestle.

Anyway, I’ll disregard my disappointment about that PG13 thingy since I’ve seen my children’s faces lit after they’ve watched the movie. I felt great that they’ve enjoyed it. Next movie for them, Harry Potter 7 part 2

So earlier, Nestle and I went on a movie date and we watched Transformers 3 on its last full show at 8:40PM. Rating the experience, I’ll give it 8 stars out of 10

1. The chairs are awesome since we’re seating in the VIP section. The chairs are convertible to a love chair where you can lift the armrest in the middle to make it as one.

2. The Dolby surround sound system really brought the movie to life.

3. The quality of pictures are superb especially with the Dolby 3D glasses.

4. The service isn’t that bad too. Though they were late for almost an hour in showing the film. We came there at 8:20 for the 8:40 film but they’ve started at 9:30 because they needed to wait for other late comer audiences. I hope next time they’ll be strict on implementing time, so the audience will learn to come early.

5. Foods in the concession are okay. They have caramel popcorn for 9,000 riels (large), different flavored donuts, and soft drinks. If you purchased a VIP ticket you’ll receive a 6,000 riel free of food in their concession.

6. The prices of the tickets are reasonable too. $6/pax for the ordinary ticket and $8 for the VIP ones in the 3D hall. While $6/pax for VIP and $4/pax for normal ticket if you’re watching a film in 2D.

7. They have 4 schedules that you can choose from if you decided to watch a movie.

• 2:10 pm
• 5:25 pm
• 8:40 pm

8. The only thing that I don’t really like in my experience is when we entered the cinema and settled on our sits. There are plenty of rubbish on the floor from the previous patrons who have watched the movie. Popcorn were everywhere and so with the coke cups. Though they’re not the highlight of the place, I would love it more when my chair is clean and there’s no trash under it. I hope they will have more “cleaners” to attend to this next time.

Summing it all, I enjoyed the night with my husband. It is those quiet times together that we appreciate each other more than anything else. Also, Cambodia is evolving fast and it’s people are welcoming the changes with open arms. As an expat working and living here, I’ll continue to look forward for more changes and challenges in this growing city. I know it won’t let me down.

For my very first loots, I have ordered 9 Maybelline mascaras of different sorts, Mac golden pigment eye shadow, and Cover Girl compact powder and foundation. All of these were delivered to Hershey in California and since Moni’s going to send all his paintball loots in June, I’d better share the cost with him to save money for shipping. After all, I still have “MORE” to come, hahaha!

I’m very excited and so my two girls especially Aiken. I am sure that they’ll love the lip smackers I bought for them.

Oh by the way, I think I’m going to be a fan of Ebay. This online shopping method is saving me time to go to the mall and the sellers are very straightforward in doing business. It’s simple and effective

Meanwhile, I was browsing the other day when I crossed this online shop. They are selling reading glasses and designer frames for reasonable prices and what strike me most is their believe that everyone has the right to see and it’s saddening to know that there are millions of people around the world who still don’t have access to proper vision care.

Here comes their “Buy A Pair, Give  A Pair” project where they partnered with other non-profit organizations like Restoring Vision.Their aim is to help the poor people especially those who are living in the third world countries to enjoy the life with good vision. When you buy a pair of glasses, you’ll be giving a pair to someone else, too. Isn’t that lovely? The person who will receive your gift will now be able to see clearly and work to the fullest.

This online shopping system is such a brilliant idea especially for someone like me who is being consumed by work. I’d admit that my busy schedule is eating my time for other personal stuff, so shopping  online is doable to me.



Ezecom – our internet provider suggested that instead of using wimax, which is our current connection, we’d better switch to fiber optic as the on-going developments (high-rise buildings) in our area affects the signal we’re getting. Thank goodness all our phones got 3g or else life would feel like DOOM!

Anyway, knowing how essential internet, we decided to upgrade. Now we’re using fiber optic which is way faster with its 1mb speed from 512mb during day time and 1mb at night time. Nestle told me that it’s far better than what we had before, so we’ll see. Internet’s not cheap in this country and with the amount we pay monthly, we’d better get the right service from our provider.

During November, Cambodians look forward in celebrating Water Festival where millions of people gather in the city to watch the colorful boats and fireworks at night. And for our school activity, Teacher Chris Frost of Grade 10 and I agreed to conduct a small boat race for our students. What’s interesting here is the boat must be powered by a dishwashing liquid. The students were stunned when they learned about this and most of them thought how this will work.

Here is the criteria for winning:

1. The boat most be no more than 150 mm.

2. Students are allowed to use any materials they wish.

3. The boat must be able to carry Mr. Marble from the beginning of the race till it reach the finish line.

4. Mrs. Marble will choose the best designed boat on the race day.

5. Students have 4 days to design and practice for the race.

The big day came and all the participants gathered in the pool for the grand race of their lifetime

At first, the boats were powered by dishwashing liquids but after a while, it ended up hand powered as the students waved their hands in the water to push their boats into the finish line.Everybody had fun!

My favorite part of the activity is when Teacher Chris jumped in the pool to “destroy” all the boats. You can see from the picture below how powerful his landing is All the boats toppled over while in the water as the force is too strong.
