Cambodia Public Holidays

My sister Inah is complaining about the holidays in the Philippines. She said that since President Arroyo changed the number of holidays, businesses went slow. Apparently, there are businesses being pulled out because they don’t make money when there’s too much holidays in a country.
Here in Cambodia, it’s the other way around. We do not complain, we love it and we enjoy it!
Here’s the list of their holidays 
January 1 – New Years Day
January 7 – Victory from Genocide Day
February – Meak Bochea
March 8 – International Women’s Day
April 13-15 or 14-16 – Cambodian New Year (most important festival on the calendar)
May – Visaka Bochea
May 1 – Labour Day
May – Royal Ploughing Day
May 13-15 – HM the King’s Birthday (King Norodom Sihamoni)
June 18 – HM the Queen Mother’s Birthday (Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk)
September 24 – Constitution Day
September – Pchum Ben (3 days off)
October 29 – Coronation Day
October 31 – HM King Father’s Birthday (King Father Norodom Sihanouk)
November 9 – Independence Day
November – Water Festival (3 days off)
December 10 – Human Rights Day
If you intend to visit Cambodia, choose the days where they have a long break, this will make your trip more remembering because of the festivities in town. It’s holiday again tomorrow and I like it so much as I am not over yet with my holiday mood since the break last week
